Tebuireng.online— Education and Training (Diklat) cadres of prospective Santri Supervisors Batch 22 held a pilgrimage to the graves of the founders (masyayikh) of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, Thursday (9/4/2026). This activity is part of a series of spiritual formation to emulate the struggles of ulama leaders while strengthening the value of service for prospective mentors.
This pilgrimage agenda was attended by 44 participants consisting of staff, trainers, asatid, as well as Batch 22 Training and Training participants. A solemn atmosphere enveloped the series of events which began with the reading of tahlil and prayers together in the grave area (maqbarah) of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School.
Ketua Angkatan Syalmahat, Gus Muhammad Ridwan, menjelaskan bahwa ziarah ini bukan sekadar kunjungan fisik. Etymologically, pilgrimage does mean visiting, but in the context of Islamic boarding schools, this activity is a spiritual practice as a wasilah (intermediary) to trace the traces of the struggle of the community.
“This pilgrimage is a form of our spiritual charity in taking blessings from the founders. In essence, even though the people have died, their prayers and values of struggle will always accompany us. With these blessings, we hope that it will be easier for the participants to absorb knowledge during the training period,” said Gus Ridwan.
Apart from Maqbarah Tebuireng, the group also continued their religious journey to the grave of Sayyid Sulaiman which is located in Jetis Hamlet, Mancilan Village, Mojoagung District, Jombang. Sayyid Sulaiman merupakan sosok ulama besar yang memiliki sejarah panjang dalam penyebaran Islam dan pendirian pesantren di Jawa Timur.
Gus Ridwan added that this activity is expected to have a positive spiritual and emotional impact on the participants, especially in strengthening family relationships between prospective santri supervisors.
Di akhir sesi, ia menekankan pentingnya loyalitas dalam berkhidmat (mengabdi) kepada pesantren dan masyarakat. It is hoped that this pilgrimage activity will become a foundation for all participants to always maintain their commitment to carrying out their mandate as mentors for students in the future.
This momentum is a crucial point for Batch 22 Education and Training Cadres to deepen the spiritual values of Islamic boarding schools before going directly to accompany the students in their respective units.
